Nofollow in menu item

Postby mixahlos » Thu Mar 26, 2015 8:30 am

Hi,

In joomla 3.4.1,
I want to tag as "nofollow" som menu items like my contact page and external url.

    1. In my contact page menu item in metadata section, I set the robots to "Index,nofollow" but in my source I don't see the rel="nofollow" tag in my link.
    2. In external URL there is no option to use nofollow

Is this a bug? or I am doing something wrong ?

Thank you
Mike

No one uses nofollow in menu items ?
I am the first with that problem and not even a mod can answer ?

for external links you can set rel=nofollow in 'Link type' tab.
for other menu type you can use addition class ('noff', for example) in Link CSS Style textfield.
then in module template

Code: Select all

$pos = strpos($item->anchor_css, "noff");
if ($pos !== false) $attributes['rel']="nofollow";

problem is the each menu have own templates, so code may be different for each template.

So I am linking to a Downloads.html menu item (internal) - because I don't want my downloads to get indexed. I'm linking to Docman from another menu, and have set all of the downloads to be nofollow and they are.

But the menu item to them is not nofollow.

So I created an "Invisble" menu to which I copied the downloads menu item.

I then created an external url and added the nofollow to it, thinking the /downloads.html link would now be nofollow, because I added the rel=nofollow in the Link rel ...

Still no go.

I can't believe I have to mess with the code to do something like this, I do believe it should be pretty simple right?

If you try it on standard Protostar template you get nofollow for external urls.
As i mentioned before - problem is in different fird-party modules and templates.
So, you have mess with code.
