Banned Emails not Showing on Contact Form

Post by SForsgren » Sat Oct 17, 2020 7:19 pm

I am on Joomla 3.9.22 but when I go to the Contact -> Form, I do not see the "Banned" options mentioned in the Joomla documentation.

I am trying to ban all emails from .ru as they continue to spam the site, but unable to attempt doing so given the fields are not present on my site.

Any ideas?

Thank you!,
Scott

Could you explain more what "documentation" you're talking about and what "options" you're searching for, please?

The only place I know of you can ban certain domains is for User Registration. Go to the Options under the User Manager and you will find a place to list/add emails to be blocked.

Which contact form are you using? I don't seen any documentation, as @sozzled queried concerning the default contact form in Joomla. One thing to avoid using with the default contact form is the "send copy to yourself" option.

To assist with your blocking of spam (or user registrations) you'd need to be using a combination of a Captcha, and a firewall/security tool that would assist to blacklist IPs, domains, email addresses etc. That would be through trial and error, and probably with varying levels of success.

I can't find anything referring to documentation for blocking emails in the Joomla contact form - the #1 result that came up in DuckDuckGo was this very forum post when searching "joomla contact form ban email" (obviously there are other search terms).
