Hi everyone. I have a joomla website but i have a problem with user registration, but user login is working fine. It was working fine earlier, but now i'm getting:

Error: 0 Undefined variable: small_smartphone

on a browser.
It is also giving uncomplete url

Hi, I'm seeing this error too in the last two weeks. It's not related to my last Joomla update, which was over 4 weeks ago. It's caused by any action (new registration, forgot password, forgot username) that falls under this path: component/users/?view=registration&Itemid=101.

I've tried creating a new login module by copying the default and using that, but it returns the same error. I've also placed the module on different menu items, and ruled out my template as an issue by placing the login module on a "plain" page. Same error.

I think it has to be some problem with a .php file under this tree on the web host: /httpdocs/components/com_users. At this point I've opened a ticket with my host (CloudAccess) to ask for help, since I don't want to start monkeying with these files.

Anyone else share any troubleshooting steps?

Same message from user registration, password reminder, or username reminder.

This is fascinating. After my last post above, I followed Per's suggestion and enabled debug mode. With debug mode enabled, the error does not occur. When I re-disable debug mode, the error returns. Hmm...

Hallo guys, sorry for late reply but i found where the error was coming from.
The problem was the component i had installed, Jnews, which brought conflict on user registration form. After removing it from the website, everything went back normal.
So, according to me, you should first try to disable thid party components/plugins that requires user registration/synchronisation.
You might find an error in one of them. Thanks guys

Yes, Joomla does use Javascript in various ways but this error could be with your template.

Make sure you have an up to date version. For example, Helix shaper ultimate template according to the FPA report looks to be the current active template, and has a J3.x compatible version v2.0.5 available (your version is 1.1.4).

The change log for helix shaper ultimate template v2.0.5 indicates a fix for a problem with JavaScript compression, associated with SP Page builder which the FPA also indicates you have installed; that is also three updates behind - current SPPB is v3.7.15, you have v3.7.12.

I'd get the template updated and see if that fixes things. Perhaps duplicate your site for testing this before committing anything to the live site.

Also for testing, switch the site to Protostar - do you still get the error?

Yes actually we have a staging site where I applied the template and Page Builder updates and there were all kinds of problems, so much so I had to rollback to a backup. I'm intentionally waiting until Joomshaper works out the kinks before trying again. Until I can more thorough testing of the latest releases, as long as I have Jscript comression disabled in the template on the live site, I don't get that error, so that'll have to be my short term workaround. Thanks for the help!
