ACL reset?

Post by andrewm57 » Thu Aug 11, 2022 1:40 pm

I've inherited a J3.10 site. A prior developer had both created new multi-group ACL's and modified user groups for the default ACL's. Also some advanced permissions have been changed for various groups.

Rather than trying to untangle everything, is there a way to reset group permissions and ACL's to the defaults?

I do have PHPMyAdmin access, and am slightly proficient therein. I'm also pretty thorough with backups :)

Most simple solution for this issues and extremely good for cleaning up all update, migration etc ACL issues as well is https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/acl-manager/ We use it for years now and it is extremely useful for very little money

Install Joomla in a test environment and compare the User groups. You can then set the default user groups to that of the new install.

Yes. If it's a commercial venture then the cost of the extension could be a better investment than time taken to do it manually.

@andrewm57: did you resolve the problem after all this time?
