Host changed server and blank site with error. FPA inside Topic is solved

Hello, my host changed server and my website stopped to work. I did nothing, I haven't updated the website in many months
I activated maximum error report, and in the front page I get

Reading of similar problems I've tried to change PHP version, verified mysqli is selected, verified database credentials, but nothing helped.
I've tried also to change database handler from database, to none, to PHP. It changes the error message, but still not working

As mentioned Joomla 3.9.13 is five years old.

The .htaccess file is missing. Rename htaccess.txt.

I renamed htacces. I just forgot to rename it when seeing random trials. Also I've contacted my host again, but they couldn't help. Here their answer

So we tried several steps including :

1 ) Ensuring that the database username/password was correct
2 ) Ensuring that the folders permissions & files were set right
3 ) Tried different PHP Versions
4 ) We restored the entire account to 2 different servers, and they old had the same errors.

There's not much else we can do, you may need external help on this, as we are unable to fix it at the moment.

We're not used to joomla, but if there's a way to disable plugins and 3rd party extensions, you can try doing so and see if it helps.

PHP is very much out of date too. 7.3.3, reached EOL 2 years ago (6 Dec 2021).

As mentioned Joomla 3.9.13 is five years old.

Also, maybe enabling Debug will reveal additional details of that error. Please enable debug (through JOomla or your web host) and post the errors here.

I'm aware it's an old version, but that's not the point, since it has been working correctly till they changed the server.
To enable define I have to modify the database table since I can't access backend?

I would suggest the fact you're running out of date Joomla is a contributing factor to this problem as is your web host running PHP 7.3.3 (EOL 2 years ago).

I could take a wild guess - did the web host change your database from MySql to MariaDB by any chance? The version currently installed and running may not be fully compatible with Joomla 3.9. (it may have worked with earlier MariaDB versions but not version: 10.6.16-MariaDB-cll-lve).

You could try setting up your site on your PC with WAMPServer, you can set up different PHP versions, and different databases to try various configurations. You can find Wampserver here: https://wampserver.aviatechno.net/.

Then export your live site's database, (phpMyAdmin), import it into a new database in WAMPServer, install an appropriate copy of PHP (like 7.4.33), copy down the joomla system files into the Wampserver folder (e.g c:\wamp64\www\[yoursitefolder]\) where "yoursitefolder" is whatever you name it.

The above is for testing, if you don't have the flexibility on your webhost to change PHP versions and so forth.

My host answered that it's on Mariadb, but same version before and after migration

Open Base is a setting in php. You must contact your host.

The Session is standard php and your host should know this without being experts in Joomka.

Eventually I solved the issue. The things that I changed where 2, not sure which one was the issue.
I removed Force SSL when restoring with Akeeba, and I removed a special character from the database password

Now I asked my host to install again the SSL certificate and he did. But if I activate "force SSL" now, I still get error 403.

Hello, my host migrated server and my site went offline. Eventually I found out that I had no SSL certificate and Forced SSL was active. Now I deactivated forced SSL and the HTTP website works fine. I also asked my host to install the SSL certificate, but the HTTPS version still doesn't work. Before migration everything was fine with the same settings.
I've tried to upload and open FPA, but even if I call it with HTTP, it goes through HTTPS and give me a 404 error.

I understand this would be the best practice. I've tried and I get a blank page and it doesn't updated. SO that would require some more digging and debugging.
But I don't think updateing it's the problem since before migration it was working correctly. I've not been actively developing this website for years, so I'm not a priority for me to have it at the last version and invest a lot of time in debugging. I would like it to be working as it was before migration.

I did say to my host several times, and today they got access directly to thip topic.
Now they reinstalled the SSL certificate, and the HTTPS started working, but it doesn't load the images and it adds ~nomadtra/ after my URL

3 ) I'm able to install Joomla ( Version 4.4.3 because 5.x was not supported with PHP 7.3 ), and it works on https, on the same domain/different directory ( https://nomadtravellers.com/joomla4/ ) , at the moment, I have also set the PHP to version 8.1 ( You may check here : https://nomadtravellers.com/joomla4/info.php )

** UPDATE : I have changed the PHP Version back to 7.3 so that the clients site can work on its non http variant**

4 ) Weirdly enough, when we create a phpinfo file on https://nomadtravellers.com/ itself, it shows a 403 error, but it works fine on a subdirectory https://nomadtravellers.com/joomla4/info.php

As mentioned in the thread we're not used to working with Joomla and older Joomla sites. However, we have seen cases with Wordpress were an older installation had issues with https because a lot of the code was written in http .
In most of these cases, we used a better search replace plugin to scan codes/databases and swap the http variants of the site to https variants and it usually fixes the problem. Could this be a problem in Joomla as well, and if so, is there a way to do it ?

I have swapped the PHP Version back to 7.3, as http://www.nomadtravellers.com/ would only work on PHP 7.3 and nothing newer, although the site still does not work on its HTTPS variant.
