Control Panel access and banner disappeared

Updated to 3.7; can log into back end as Super User login but only get a blank page with the site name in middle of blank page no banner only the Joomla! logo as a link to the Control Panel - back to square one - lost Super User back end access to anything. Can login front end and edit articles. Have full access to cPanel, db, php is 7.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
