Admin template menu failure
Got an issue where in the admin area with the Isis template the horizontal main dropdown menu doesn't function. If you hover over an item it highlights but clicking produces no response.
On hover all of the links on the main menu display in the status section as
https://www.mysitexxx.com/administrator/index.php#
If I use a direct link to a component then I find that the Save, Save and Close and Close buttons won't function either.
If I change to the Hathor template by a direct link to the templates and select the default star, which does work then the main menu works but the Save buttons don't.
The browser admin console gives about 10 instances of this error:
ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
Any thoughts?

Re: Admin template menu failure
what is your Joomla version. Please try clearing cache and purging all the expired cache by going to the backend. Did you upgrade joomla and after that this happened?

Re: Admin template menu failure
Hi, I can direct link to the cache facilities, have done that and no change. No idea when this happened to be honest.
BTW, the issue is in the backend, front end works fine.

Re: Admin template menu failure
Have you tried to use a different browser to access your website? Have you tried a different computer to access your website?
First things first: force a browser page refresh on every page that you visit in your administrator site. If you do not know how to force a browser page refresh then please ask.
If this technique does not resolve your problem then at least answer the questions that we ask you on this forum. One question that may help to know: "which version of Joomla are you using?"

Re: Admin template menu failure
Thanks for the offer subrat, but given I couldn't do much administration let alone add a user I took the easy way out and have restored a backup.
Admin menus work now so will be interesting if they start playing up again.

Re: Admin template menu failure
Making a backup is "more difficult" than adding a user......

Re: Admin template menu failure
Try doing it without the admin menu and the save/clse buttons functioning A backup becomes much more tempting!AMurray wrote:Making a backup is "more difficult" than adding a user......

Mod. Note: Relocated the topic to the Administration Forum.
The issue is with JS. Does JQuery exist?
jquery.js and jquery.min.js is located in media/jui/js

Re: Admin template menu failure
Thanks Per Yngve Berg, my feeling it was a javascript issue with the presence or not of JQuery. However, as I reinstalled a backup there's no problem any more.Per Yngve Berg wrote:Mod. Note: Relocated the topic to the Administration Forum.

Re: Admin template menu failure
I was having similar problems, then I remembered that I had added some .js files for bootstrap.
I simply deleted all the files in MEDIA/JUI/JS, and reloaded from the Helix template.
Boom! Everything back to normal.
THANKS!
