I recently uploaded some files using the 'Document' option in the article toolbar (paperclip with a sheet of paper behind).
I now need replace these files with updated versions, but cannot upload another file with the exact same name to this location, so I'd like to delete these files. However, I cannot figure out for the life of me how to do this.
I am an extremely novice user, and it's a very basic site. I tried 'Content' > 'Media' but the files are nowhere to be found.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how I can get rid of these please? I'm using 3.6.5 if it makes any difference.
TIA

Thank you for your speedy response. I set up the site over 18 months ago and my memory is hazy as to what I installedwaarnemer wrote:.. are you sure you do not haven an extension installed for "file downloads"? Something like "Attachments"?
I attach a screenshot of the components - would Ark Editor be the culprit?? I cant even remember what I installed that for or if I need it elsewhere
I know, I know, I know. I'm just petrified that something will kill my site during the install with the template I'm using, and I just don't have the time to fix it.brian wrote:and please urgently upgrade your joomla install!!!

You will have even less time when your site is hacked

Re: Deleting files that have been uploaded via standard interface in an article
My guess is that indeed it is ARK editor (formerly JCK). I don't know all there is to ARK/JCK as I stick to defaults as much as possible and I don't want my authors to fiddle with the way I want my sites to look...
So maybe somewhere in ARK component you can find where your documents are..
But the first advice (and that from brian) is to update ASAP... you really need to.. it has reached end of life years ago..

Re: Deleting files that have been uploaded via standard interface in an article
Finally figured it out, thank you for prompting me to consider Ark Editor! It was indeed this, but I couldn't find in the documentation any way of deleting the files once uploaded and you can only access support if you subscribe to the package. However, it did prompt me to look at where the url pointed, and I managed to figure out that if I accessed the folder using the cPanel of my web host, I could delete it from there.
A very roundabout way of reaching the end result, but workable for the short term.
I will also look into updating the site ASAP. Cheers
