Notification to user about activation account

Post by benyrfg » Mon Aug 13, 2018 1:04 pm

Hi,

when user fill registration form and confirm activation link in email, then he wait to activation by admin, it's ok.

When admin activate the user account via link in email, Joomla will send notification to user, that his account was activated. It's ok.

But when admin activate the user in backend administration, the notification email to user is not send. Why is it?

Joomla! 3.8.11
Thanks, Petr

Does the problem exist only when logged in as Admin or when logged in with Super User as well?

Just tested with Super User on my site. The email associated with the Super user account was different to the site email ... but both were @ weblinksonline.co.uk email. Make sure your site email is with your site name ... if no avail then do the same for the user that creates the account. Stay away from using gmail on your site.

I tested to be logged on as Admin and as a Super User, in both cases the notif email was not send.

Site email is the same as Super User email.

I tested without problems. Is your site email @yoursite .com or gmail or yahoo?

May be you are trying this in a local server rather than on line server, wamp local server needs to be set to be able to send email.

My email is company hosted...

but I'm not sure that you understand my problem.

System message says to user:
Once an administrator approves your account you will be notified by email and you can login to the site.
But this email in NOT sent when admin activate account.

This email is send only if admin click to activation link inside system notif. email about new registration:
Hello administrator,

A new user has registered at Page Name.
The user has verified their email address and requests that you approve their account.
This email has their details:

Name : John Doe
email: useremail@seznam.cz
Username: johndoe

You can activate the user by selecting on the link below:
http://subdom.domain.cz/registration?ta ... 04432ad478
If admin click on this link, this email is sent to the user:
Hello John Doe,

Your account has been activated by an administrator. You can now login at http://subdom.domain.cz/ using the username johndoe and the password you chose while registering.
But if admin activate user in backend admin, these email is NOT send.

I understand ... not sure what would cause the email to fail because it was sent when the account was sent when the user was created from the back end.

Only two possibilities I can think of
1. A different mechanism is used and the server is rejecting something in the code (or your site email address. Is it a gmail account or your domain email?
2. When you create it from the backend are you setting it higher than Registered?

Try Users >>> Manage >>> Options ... Send Password ... No. See what happens

I wanted to be sure if your site is running on an online server rather than a local server like wamp,
sending emails from local servers needs speical settings so that joomla cms shall be able to send email to users after registration.

I tested disable Send Password, but no change.
