Joomla 3.9.5 installed but says update for 3.9.4 available?

Post by jjspelman » Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:48 am

Very strange but this site says it is running 3.9.5 yet Joomla Updater indicates that version 3.9.4 is available for update.

Furthermore, when attempting to do this upgrade I am getting a warning that a module.php file is unwritable?

Very strange, any thoughts appreciated.

Isn't the name of the update file 3.9.5?

Just clear the cache.

Thank you all for your replies.

I emptied cache, deleted expired cache and that did not seem to do anything.

I then went to Extensions > Manage > Database and noticed a couple of things (see screen shots). I then clicked "Fix" and I get the error shown in the screen shot.

I Then tried to run the FPA script and received the following errors:

Any help appreciated.

Set folders 755 and files 644 then try and fix the database problems.
Did you check Global config will successfully save twice?
It appears you have been too tight on some security features that has caused problems.

Could be a security issue. I ran Fix permissions in AdminTools Pro, saved Globel Config twice, then told Joomla to Check for Updates in Joomla update, now it says we have the latest version. So far so good...

Will Extensions >>> manage >>> database ... fix ... work now?
Also try Components >>> Joomla update ... Check for update ... reinstall core files.

Do you mean permissions issue? Did you or someone else copy the folder plugins/system/admintools to plugins/system/admintools.backup?

Thanks, @toivo, for replying. I am not sure how this site was set up initially, so I am not sure if anyone copied any folders in that manner.

Now another issue I am seeing is that there is no Multilingual Options under the Components menu. Even though under Extensions > Manage ist shows that it is installed and enabled. Another thread suggested I reinstall Joomla. So I tried the "Reinstall Joomla Core Files" in Joomla Updater only to find the same error as in the above screen shot: Could not open modules.php for writing.

Try the fpa again if no avail then set all folders 755 and files 644 recursively. If the folder Permissions settings keep being a problem then check your settings on any security extensions that are installed. Also check the .htaccess file to see if a 'mask' has been set.

I had the same issue with 3.9.6 saying that 3.9.5 was available to install. Did the Extensions>Manage>Database and Fix which has solved my issue. Thank you to jjspellman for the clue in resolving this issue for me.
