Can't Log in to Site | Password Wont Reset [SOLVED]

Post by Starlight1992 » Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:02 pm

I am trying to login to the backend of Allphaseair.com But my login credentials are no longer working and when I click on the button for 'forgot password', it takes me straight to the homepage. I have tried resetting the password through phpmyadmin but have been unable to find my user name. There isn't a section with the suffix_users so I am a bit stuck on what to do. I have to make a change on the site before the end of the day. Please help. How can I reset or regain access to the backend.

1) The "forgot my password" facility does not apply to superuser/admin accounts.

2) See https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F. When you write I have tried resetting the password through phpMyAdmin but have been unable to find my user name" what do you mean? Do you mean that the user record has been deleted?

I'm sorry but I do not know what suffix_users means. Perhaps you mean the table in the database with the name table-prefix_users. ??? Normally, for J! 3.x, table-prefix is pattern of letters and numbers, randomly created, e.g. uw79x; this table prefix is different for each installation of J!

1) The "forgot my password" facility does not apply to superuser/admin accounts.
So what you mean is that because I have a superuser/admin account, that when I press the button circled below. It takes me to the homepage because I have a superuser/admin account? I just want to clarify and make sure I understand

You were right I was talking about the table prefixes. I cant find ''f81gq_users'' initially as seen in the picture below.

Now when I click on the name of the database itself I did eventually find users

But then when I click on it. The only user I see is admin. I have tried to reset the password for admin by using the method from the docs so that the password becomes 'secret'. But this doesnt seem to work either.

Let's take this in two bites:

1) Correct. The "forgot my password" feature ("question-mark" icon) on the backend, takes you to the frontend. But, the "forgot my password" facility does not apply to superuser/admin accounts.

2) (first screenshot): the left pane of the phpMyAdmin account shows the first twenty or so tables (I can't remember the actual number) and, below that list is a "next" (>) and "end" (>>) link to show the next twenty or so tables, etc. So, the _users table is there, the list is in alphabletical order so you need to click ">" or ">>" to find the _users table.

(second screenshot): in your case, the table is f81gq_users

"Part 2"

The last screenshot shows there is an user with the username "admin". There is a value in the password column. Go back to the documentation I mentioned earlier https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F

Change the value in the password column for record id 36 (the only record you have, from the looks of things) to this

Code: Select all

433903e0a9d6a712e00251e44d29bf87:UJ0b9J5fufL3FKfCc0TLsYJBh2PFULvT
This combination of numbers and letters actually "translates" to "admin"

Save your change.

Now you should be able to login to your backend with
Username: admin
Password: admin

... and then you can change the password to something else. OK?
