Joomla Backend Royally Messed Up

Post by TheRam » Sun Nov 07, 2021 1:32 pm

Oh where to start...

I tried installing a new extension and received the error message "Unable to detect manifest file."

I attempted to update to Joomla 4 and received some error there as well and ended up having to use a restore from before all this.

I tried again with the new extension and got the same error.

I went about trying to resolve this issue and found a few things that seem to be not right, somehow along the way the whole thing is now messed up!

I've tried using the restore function and even gone back over a month, I contacted the hosting help desk and we went around doing some stuff, but it seems I've messed something up big time.

I can no-longer access:
Global Configuration
User
Menus
Content
A Few of my Components

The actual website still works ??? but I'm not able to really make any updates at this point.

What I'm really looking for is someone who can come in a help fix it for me as it seems to be way beyond my skill level.

Well, in my experience non-professional can be just as good as professional.
Happy to pay for actual results either way.

OK. As an amateur/hobbyist I don't know what you know about your website or how you went from J! 3.x to J! 4.0.

Let's stop there. What was the new extension you tried to install and what version of J! were you using when you tried to install it? If we take things slowly, by retracing the steps that led to the calamity, we may have a better understanding of how you arrived at the place you have arrived at. ;)

Okay the "calamity" is resolved.
I deeper search of the forum showed that the failed upgraade to Joomla 4 left files that the restore wouldn't touch. Simply deleted the install and then restored...

I'm trying to install this extention https://www.joomboost.com/joomla-compon ... oking.html

But keep getting the error message:
"Unable to detect manifest file."

Easy Services Booking is a paid extension for J! 3.x; there is nothing in the product description that indicates whether it works with J! 4.0.

Please contact the author and ask how to install the product.
