Print issue in Joomla where Editor & above ACL

Post by CGPM » Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:14 am

I have a Joomla application for managing actions arising from Board meetings. The title field of the blog item is the link to an editable page; only those with ACL level of Editor and above can edit the page. "Registered" can see all the content but do nothing with it.

When logged in with ACL level of "Registered" and printing, the document prints (PDFs - for Board meeting purposes) as you see it in HTML with all links concealed by the text displayed by an anchor <a ...>CONNECT</a> and only the CONNECT text appearing.

When logged in with ACL level of Editor and above, the page views as if logged in as Registered but when printed displays the full link <a href=https://link-to-page>CONNECT</a>. This is unsightly, unreadable and irrelevant for the typical reader of the document.

My present work around requires the person doing the PDFing/printing to have two logins - one as a Regsitered and one as an Editor. Editor to work on the document and Registered to print. Rather clumsy.

Is there a means by which the links can be suppressed when an Editor is printing leaving the text within the anchor as if being viewed by a Registered.
