Speed Test Analyzes

Postby Estranghero » Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:58 pm

Dear Community,

I'm not really sure, if I'm at the right place here with my question;

Since my Site went very low on Speed, I checked for some Solutions. On my Site (Joomla! Ver: 3.8.2) under Helix 2. So I went to PageSpeed Insights: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights and have seeing some hints for increasing the page speed. It threw me to 75% of speed. In order to increase, I followed their instructions by defining some files for Caching. After entering a Cache Rule into the header of the *.css (according to: https://varvy.com/pagespeed/cache-control.html Cache-Control:
max-age=2592000, public
). But nothing changed. Here comes my Question; Is there a way to increase even more page speed?
What I already did was:
Setting the System of Conserative Caching,
Increasing Caching time to; 2592000
set Gzip Page Compression to "yes"
I also got already
SpeedPlus and SpeedBooster Speed Bundle
- from https://codingmall.com/products-mainmenu-8/65-speed-up-virtuemart installed

Any useful hints to solve this issue are very appreciated!

Thank you for your time!

Put your hand in your pocket and get a better Hosting service perhaps ?

Hi,

In order to achieve a high score in Google pagespeed insights you have to implement all the suggestions the tool provides. Most work needs to be done on your web server, not Joomla.

For example, it's always faster to enable GZIP on your web server, not in the application.

The same goes for static assets caching. You need to set up your web server to cache the static assets for some time.

I use 1and1 shared Hosting not the fastest but good. But it's the type of Hosting package that you need to look at for speed as well ? A lot of the speed issues appear to be Template related ? Perhaps also something like https://extensions.joomla.org/extension ... ompressor/ there are others. Whatever you do (to increase the speed significantly) will almost inevitably cost money.

Hi Webdongle,
thank you very much for your hint! But honestly; 9 bucks/month for just 1 domain? I currently run 9 web sites. And for this -that's kinda very expensive! But at least now I know where and what for I've to keep my eyes open.

Hi ut4utc,

sorry for my late response to you! I just was so busy by migrating my sites into the new host. Hey, thanx a lot for your snippet :) !!! I hope my question didn't seem too stupid to you, but; Can I place your code at any place inside the .htaccess, or better at the first or the last?

best regards & thank you again very much!

Hey Guys, I found one more really pretty code snipped for your .htaccess to speed up your site, and I want to share it with you! I'd be keen to know, what you think about it 8) !

Code: Select all

<IfModule LiteSpeed>
    CacheEnable public
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^GET|HEAD|PURGE$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} your host domain|your domain [NC]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !admin|login|register [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_COOKIE} !logged [NC]
    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !nocache [NC]
    RewriteRule .* - [E=Cache-Control:max-age=1209600]
</IfModule>

best regards!
