Great news ! The joomla community is fantastic ! The devs have accepted to work on the issue, a Greek dev also handle the case !

Hi all with the help of the dev we have installed the new patch who will be available in joomla 3.8.4

the result is awesome, [ redacted ]

navigate trougth articles, using left menu, and botton navigation bar, the page load is 1.3 sec !!!!!!!

The PR #19284 didn't make it into 3.8.4 , so you will have to patch your site again if you update.

All the required tests where not completed in time for the release.
Not many testpilots with huge databases like yours around.

I agree this is why it was so diffucult to get support on this issue but member of Joomla.org (NOT Joomla.fr who dont have trusted me) gave me the path to dev github ; )))))

I get the same problem since upgrades to > J 3.8.X (actually 3.8.5)
You told that a greek dev gave you a patch .. can you give more details because I'm interested !!

hi bertrand you need to apply some PR from csthomas (all info on the url bellow), Joomla dev seek website who face the issue to include this PR in official joomla patch, get in contact with them on this page

The problem lies in the backend module "User Status". Somehow that module does lots of DB queries. The problem is worse for websites with large numbers of logged in users than for websites with only few users.
Once you disable the plugin the backend is back to normal speed again.

PR 19261 and PR 19284 sucessfully tested on Joomla 3.8.5 ; ))))) Went from 9.5 sec pageload time to 4.5 sec
