Filter of the Category list - PROBLEM with cookies

I have a problem with the filter of the Category list.
When the filter leads to no result, the filter remains active and there is no way to go back to the category list. The only way to get the original list back is by cleaning the browser cookies.
Is there a way to disable the filter to collect the cookies for those pages where the filter is enabled?
