Can't upload media in Joomla 3.4.8

I have tried to upload images to my Joomla website and they are not working. When I select an image (I've tried .jpg and .png) to upload, I press the upload button and it just refreshes the page and the content is not there. I don't see an error message, and I don't see the language that typically accompanies a file upload where it includes the download path.

I've tried to upload content via Content > Media and even by uploading them from the Article view with the same results.

I doubt it's a server issue, because I can upload content via FTP.

Any suggestions for how I go about troubleshooting something that doesn't even create an error code? (Or is it possible it's creating an error code in my error log, and if so, I'm not sure how to find it because my site generates a lot of errors)

Update to the latest Joomla.
