Go to Components » Joomla! Update. What does that tell you, if anything.

No updates available
You already have the latest Joomla! version, 3.3.3.

That's what i get as message.
So i don't need to update?

I have to use the translation for the website and when i go to install a language pack i get these mesagges for every language "Language pack does not match this Joomla! version. Some strings may be missing."

No, you do need to update. J! 3.3.3 is over 4½ years old and there have been over 35 releases of Joomla since that time.

It is probable that you are receiving the message "you have the latest version of Joomla" because the update cache has not been cleared.

I don't have time today to explain what you need to do. I'm sure that someone else will be able to explain what you need to do to update your version of Joomla to get to the latest, current, stable and supported version.

J! 3.3.3 is vulnerable to attack; you are lucky that your website has not become the victim of cyber-hacking.

I would start, downloading the older packages one by one and updating in increments.

https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3 - download all the update packs between (including) 3.3.4 and 3.8.5. (35 of the them....).

e.g. 3.3.3 to 3.3.4 and so on. Backup the site before and after each.

The ideal way to update is via the Joomla Update component and let the system handle the updates.

As @sozzled said, caching might be the issue so it's not recognising any later version. You can update manually by uploading the update packages via Extension Manager (but not after 3.5.x) an from 3.5.x the automatic update should work or if not the update component gives you the option to upload the update or patch packages.

Be sure to read the update instructions provided at each download page. Read the release announcements and then download the appropriate ZIP package - the update (not the full install) package.

https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3/3-8-5

I found this option (the last one at the bottom).
Is it safe to try it?

Or it is better one by one?

Start here; safest and best way.

Administrator > Components > Joomla Update

If this isn't available, update incrementally until you reach a point where it is.
