Updates fail after hosting platform changes

Post by averageSi » Mon Jul 09, 2018 5:00 pm

Since host moved the site to an upgraded platform, updates have been failing with the message: "ERROR: could not open archive/part file tmp/Joomla_3.8.10-Stable-Update_Package.zip for reading...." - see attached. Any advice appreciated. FPA output is:

Potential Missing Modules :: mod_rewrite and SEF Rewrite is enabled in Global Configuration. This site cannot be working except the Home page.

Several templates for J2.5 is istalled.

Thank you. It does work, though. I take the point about templates and will clean up the installation. Thanks again.

Re: Updates fail after hosting platform changes - RESOLVED

Thanks all for your help. Problem seems to have been caused by Global Configuration having only a relative path for tmp folder. After entering the full path, as revealed by FPA, update was successful. Thanks again for your advice.

Oh just had another look at the fpa. Livesite var should be empty ... giving it a value causes problems with relative paths.

host moved the site to an upgraded platform
HUHHH? So the "new" upgraded hosting environment is still very outdated?
PHP Configuration :: Version: 5.6.31
should be PHP 7.1 the minimum (Joomla 4 requires minimum PHP 7.1 abnd PHP 5.6 is End of Life))
Apache2Handler
Should be cgi/fcgi (you have now ownership issues)
Missing: mod_security
Should always run on a server (security priority)
Missing: mod_ssl
Should always run on a server (No SSL/https on your account possible)
Max. Execution Time: 30
Should be at least be set to "90" you will face upload and installation issues with current Joomla and extensions

Got a few more but advise: Change host!
