control panel collapsed after updating to 3.9.12

Post by Rmskaf » Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:19 pm

Hello,
After updating to version 3.9.12, my control panel got completely misconfigured . I asked the Host's support to restore the site's backup from previous days and they did it (it returned to version 3.9.11)

However, the control panel continues completely misconfigured, preventing most of the commands to be activated, specially those related to javascript codes

The public page is fine: https://brahmakumaris.org.br ... However, since that happened, I'm unable to use the control panel

Thanks in advance

I don't know what you mean "control panel collapsed"...... can you provide screenshots?

Once the site's running, I suggest you install Akeeba Backup, and obtain Kickstart - that way you can easily restore your own backups, without your host's intervention.

Hi, thank you for that

ATTACHED are two screenshots on that.

We have Akeeba backup, but due to this situation it's not working

Thank you for your question.

I had this problem recently with one of my websites. Even though the backend is "messed-up", it's not completely unusable; the links should still work.

In my case, the most recent problem was caused by a third-party module that was assigned to one of the backend template positions.

Use the Module Manager, set the filter to "Administrator" and look for third-party modules; unpublish any "suspicious looking" module and see if that corrects the problem.

If you find which module is the culprit, you will need to replace it or uninistall it. I hope that helps.

The files htaccess.txt and web.config.txt do nothing. Leave them alone.

Thank you for that. I've checked the different modules and deleted only one complementary one...leaving only the basic ones there. The situation is the same..

I have no idea, sorry. It was a guess. Sounds like you have installed an extension that conflicts with the backend but I have no idea what it might be.

Looks like you have to reload the cached js files in your browser.

The issue was solved !!
A developer re-installed joomla's latest version (3.9.12) manually through FTP and it's fine now

Thank you for posting the information about how your problem was resolved. Please tell your "developer" to learn how to install/update J! 3.x properly, by using the Joomla! Update component, and by not just copying files. This causes more problems than it creates. I don't understand where people get the idea that copying files is how modern CMS websites are maintained.

This is totally unacceptable since Joomla cannot be reinstalled through FTP
and it's fine now
It cannot be fine I bet that if you go to extensions-->manage--> database you will find a lot of issues as well as missing files in the respective section of manage. A"developer" who tries to re-install Joomla through FTP is no developer but a full sized amateur!
