Problem connecting - error on line 260

Something went very wrong after I tried to install the last update. I have read about this error in line 260 but still do not understand what I can do. Please help if you can.

The database server denied the connection request from Joomla. Check the connection details and the credentials.

I can access my database - and see my files in ftp programs.
I have searched the web and this site but am not sure what to do.

Looking at this I can not figure out how the configuration file accesses the database and where I should change something.

I still could not find out why the error was there - my internet providers answer was "We do not support Joomla-you might want to change to Wordpress". Now I have copied old files and installed again.
It works and I will now try to put some of the old files back and see what happens.

Not recommended. The previous version of Joomla, 3.10.4, was out of date. The current version is 3.10.10. Mixing and matching files from different versions will only cause errors.
