Joomla 3 support on php7

Post by festa666 » Mon Sep 12, 2022 3:53 pm

Hi all,

I have lots of sites setup on a hosting environment using php7.

Due to problems that arise when they are switched to php8 its going to prove very problematic needing to go through that process one by one to fix the errors.

Referring to part the warning that appears in Joomla 3 in reference to;
The Joomla! Project recommends upgrading your site to PHP 7.4 or later which will receive security updates at least until 2022-11-28.
Does this mean in November 2022 a Joomla website will no longer update, if its not on php 8?

Or is it just a suggestion that it be on php8, but will still update when using 7?

T.i.a

PS - Sorry, just realised i've posted this in the J4 thread. Please feel free to move over :(

Joomla will continue to update, but the php project will no longer provide updates for php 7.x on the server.

See also viewtopic.php?f=706&t=950116 or https://www.itoctopus.com/how-to-remove ... n-joomla-3 (perhaps). Disabling the Quick Icon - PHP Version Check plugin will hide those warnings. Your J! 3 website will continue to work. 8)
