Problems after upgrading

Post by shiran » Thu Oct 04, 2012 5:45 pm

Hello,
I've updated to Joomla! 3.0 but kept receiving a PHP error. After trying to restore my website to the previous version using my beckup, I now receive too different fatal errors which denies any access to my website:

Front-end: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class JDispatcher in /home/******/public_html/libraries/joomla/event/dispatcher.php on line 279

Back-end: Fatal error: Call to undefined method JHtml::getJSObject() in /home/******/public_html/libraries/joomla/html/sliders.php on line 110

Is there any way to fix this?

Thx.

How did you restore to a previous version? Did you restore/replace all the website files as well as roll the DB back to 2.5?

And it's been said many times already. Joomla 3.0! is not recommended for anything except for developers/testers, certainly not live websites!

Hey thx for your answer.
Yes I'm new at the community and know that I've made a huge mistake.
I used kickstart to restore my latest Akeeba backup.

Did you start with an empty folder?

Could you try it on a windows pc running xampp?
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)

The best thing to do is to make sure you are subscribed (the option just beneath the forum title) to the Joomla Announcements Forum and you will then get notified almost immediately a new release is available.

Make sure your Components ⇒ Joomla Update ⇒ Options is set to the Default Long Term Support(Recommended) option in the listing otherwise automatic updates will notify you when the STS releases or others are available and you could seriously harm your site.

Remember 2.5.x is supported until 2014.

Make sure you always backup your site and database before making any updates or installing new Extensions or their updates.

Did you delete all the files on your server and drop all the database tables before running kickstart ?

I had a similar problem with a site I was testing the upgrade on and just using kickstart did not solve the problem. I had to delete all the files and drop the database tables then use kickstart.

Sorry Where can I delete the database tables?
Did you loose many settings and articles when you did this?

I tried updating then bringing up the backup with akeeba kickstart also.

Nothing happened jus that error. I guesss I'll erase all files and try that! Right now it there's not much left to loose.
