Yea... I've said it many times. Maybe TEST the new Joomla versions before releasing them. And people wonder why Joomla is losing popularity. It's because of stuff like this.croonhb wrote:After upgrading from 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 I get the following message after the back-up.

Just for the record, updating akeeba worked for me, so it can't hurt to do that first (unless you're one of 6 people who don't use akeeba)

I am getting this going from 3.6.2 to 3.6.4 Tried database fix and updating the update component still get error.
I think it is ridiculous forcing me to purchase another akeeba subscription to update Joomla.
Why is the font so large on the forum ?

Updating Akeeba fixes problem. I use the paid one and my subscription has expired so had to renew or revert.

I had the same problem and although I updated Akeeba, it turns out that after clearing the joomla cache there was yet another Akeeba update available. It seems like you had to update to the last 4.7.x release before it would acknowledge that there was a 5.x version available.

Thanks catalano !
Your tip worked for me. Although there was no need for me to update Akeeba Backup...simply clearing the Joomla cache solved the issue.
Thanks again for sharing.

I have this problem when I activate MemCache for Joomla and try to login front end then I got this message:
The most recent request was denied because it contained an invalid security token. Please refresh the page and try again.
If I disable Memcache for Joomla (3.6.5) then the login works as normal.
Any idea whats wrong? Is it something wrong with the config file that have errors or..? hmm

I do hope this gets resolved as turning off the cache is a workaround, not a solution. I do want to take advantage of the caching. At this moment, we can't.

It seems like lots of people are experiencing this error under a lot of different circumstances. This has been happening to me since the update and none of the suggestions have worked for me with any permanence. I was getting this error before I was using Akeeba, so that's not it. I have turned off the System Cache plugin, so that's not it.
I don't have a lot of users, but I personally have restricted areas that I use frequently that require me to be logged in via the front end and to have this issue constantly happen several times over the course of a week on different computers/platforms is staggeringly inconveniencing.

(Joomla 3.6.5) Me too 'evilded777'. On one particular site I have many users, so this is extensively frustrating when they come to you for answers and there are no clear cut solutions available. We don't use Akeeba. We use Sitelock. Also, I've disabled the System Cache plugin and enable conservative cache in the joomla configurations, but am still having this problem. Ours is a news site that gets updated by our staff daily and to have this issue is not very user friendly for them right now. It would be nice to see a solution, even if it mean yet another update.

Invalid security Token , Please refresh the page and try again error
Hello,
once again I'm facing this error. I have put my side offline for maintenance reason and when I try to log in to frontend I do get this error. I have no idea how to solve this issue any more. I have searched the internet for about a week now and haven't found anything that helped.
Will this bug ever be resolved by Joomla developers?
Is there a way to turn this token thing off and secure Joomla with something less problematic?
Thanks and regards, Blubbfisch

This issue will kill Joomla once and for all.
I am very close to ditching Joomla in favor of WordPress, because of this issue.
A client today was unable to log in because of this.
If they enter the username and corrrect password, LOG THEM IN. Don't give them any "invalid token" messages.
Are you listening, Joomla developers? It's do or die time...

The issue is most likely bad or badly configured hosting environment. Or maybe they just updated things serversite. Joomla rocks, really. Already use it since 2005 and have over 50 client sites. No issues whatsoever.
P.S. I have also some WP sites for clients because they insist. Everytime I have to work on them I realise how good Joomla is.
Using Joomla since 2005.

Using Joomla 3.7.0. and I just started getting the "invalid security token" message when I try to login as administrator. So, I was locked out of Joomla administrator.
Per a closed issue in Github, disabling plg_system_cache will stop the problem with invalid security token.
Since I was locked out of Joomla Administrator, I disabled plg_system_cache via the mysql database, phpmyadmin, tbl_extensions, plg_system_cache and set enable = 0.

I came across a recent article on Github from Brian Teeman that this cache-related issue is addressed in the upcoming 3.7.1 release.
I hope it's the same issue

Re: Invalid security Token , Please refresh the page and try again error
I Think the Bug Was supposed to be fixed
I Got Joomla 3.7.2 on php 7.1.6
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/9568
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/15871
It seem that the based of the problem is with the Joomla System - Page Cache plugin and I think more specifically the Use Browser Caching option in the plugin
Me, I get the error when I try to send from forms, on my site. I use the Regular Lab plugin that “Clean All Cache” on modify the site and by using the button “Clean All Cache” forms go OK for a while and go down with the same error rapidly.
If I turn Off the Use Browser Caching option in the the Joomla System - Page Cache plugin — It seem to fix the problem for Good.
Try that for your front Login.
If that problem was causing the backend login to failed, I guess that changing the Browser Caching option in the configuration.php file will work to?

Re: Invalid security Token , Please refresh the page and try again error
I’m Testing if it’s only the option Browser Caching of the plugin System - Page Cache plugin
After emptying All Caches it seem that I have no more errors on my forms with Browser Caching OFF and System - Page Cache plugin ON.
I continue checking (Full Facebook/Google campaign going on that site…) Cannot have the forms Down..
