Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
Since updating we find that when trying to register a new user, request a password reset or reminder of username all result in web page not found.
Not sure if urls are incorrectly formed or they are correct and the functions just don't exist. Help please asap or I will need to revert the site back to 3.7.4

@cheshirealan , please check if all files are updated correctly.
@arpal : ideally you should start a new post as your issue is not related to the starting post. Update or disable sppagebuilder admin menu in the backend.

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
I have debugged this issue down to Http 500 error when attempting to send the email message from any of user options.
I checked the Global Config Settings and they are OK. Trying to send a test mail fails from the Server tab. This is true whichever mail setting I try SMTP/PHP/SendMail.
I always get:
Error
An error has occurred while fetching the JSON data: HTTP 500 status code. Internal Server Error
I even get this if I disable sending of mail and click on Send Test Email.
Help please.

Hi cheshirealan
Set error reporting to maximum in Global Configuration. Then try sending e-mail and paste any displayed php errors.

Interestingly when the global config was changed it did manage to trigger sending an email:

I haven't followed the entire history of this discussion topic (and I ask @cheshirealan to have some forebearance if they've read this elsewhere) but, as I have written a few times elsewhere:

@cheshirealan
I'm trying to figure out why the FPA is not reporting the joomla version.
Can you please check where the file version.php is located on your site?
Is it:
libraries/joomla/
libraries/cms/version/
libraries/src/
or somewhere else?

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
I cant seem to get logging of php errors sorted. Or maybe there aren't any. Is log file created before any errors or only if an error is created.

ISIS template helsp a lot and generated lots of detail re JSON error:

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
@frostmakk Wrong JVersion class locations are as follows. If any of this exists should be removed
/libraries/cms/version/ folder whole folder
/includes/version.php
/libraries/version.php
/libraries/joomla/version.php
libraries/src/ is good location.
@cheshirealan Do you have recent backup of the site? If yes I have one litle more risky method.

None of the version.php files exist from your list except the one in libraries/src/
I can take a new backup now. Whats your risky fix?

0. Make sure you have a backup of your site (files and database).
1. Download https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla ... format=zip package
2. Upload it to your site root and extract it with file manager.
3. Remove installation folder.
4. Remove if exists
- /libraries/cms/version/ folder
- /includes/version.php
- /libraries/version.php
- /libraries/joomla/version.php
5. Then use https://gist.githubusercontent.com/mbab ... update.php file as described hrte https://gist.github.com/mbabker/d7bfb4e ... -readme-md.
It' ensure all file and database changes are done.

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
OK, so followed the above method and all went well. Site is back but ................. still the same issue with sending emails.
I did try a install from scratch of 3.7.5 on 1&1 using a spare domain followed by an upgrade to 3.8 and that worked fine with full ability to send emails.
So no basic issues with email on my hosting contract.

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
The JSON that is output by the Hathor template is huge. Is this possibly an issue with too large to parse as opposed to an error in the JSON.
I tried to paste it into a JSON validator and it said it was too large.

Hathor is not supported. Hathor has not been supported since J! 3.7 (or possibly even back in J! 3.6, I'm not sure). Use Isis.
“If you think I’m wrong then say, ‘I think you’re wrong.’ If you say ‘You’re wrong!’, how do you know?”

Re: Upgrade to 3.8.0 - all site user functions broken
OK, ISIS was my preference and I have now re-enabled it.
The reinstall as suggested has appeared to have tidied up some of the error that firebug was showing.
The request to send a test email still gives a 500 error. On checking the JSON response to that request in firebug it fails to parse as the response is empty!!!

Please give list of loaded js files when sending test mail in back end and browser you are using. Additionally please post list of system plugins.
