Gone blank with "Error 500" after update to 3.8

I'm having same issues too. i downloaded the joomla 3.8 upgrade and tried it, after a successful upgrade my site went blank "ERROR 500."
still battling with it.

Please set $error_reporting='maximum' in configuration.php file and report back displayed error.
