After update 3.8.11 Frontend submission is broken

Post by nettpilser » Thu Aug 09, 2018 8:36 am

3.8.10 worked fine.
3.8.11 Frontend Article sumission - Broken page.
All sites use template made by Artisteer.

While logged in frontend, I want to edit an article, I get an error page that gives this message:
Call to undefined method JEventDispatcher::getContent()

// Pressing the EDIT button

If i test with prostar template, I get no error.
I dont intend to keep using Artisteer, but I would like to solve this issue.

PHP 7.0.31, Apache
Joomla! 3.8.11 Stable [ Amani ]
Joomla Platform 13.1.0 Stable [ Curiosity ]

I would guess the cause is the Artiseer template; you've confirmed you don't get the error using Protostar, so even if you don't use Protostar itself eventually, find a template from a reputable seller (free ones vary in quality/reliability, at least paid ones are usually backed by quality support from the developer.

If you're not going to use the Artiseer template I wouldn't bother going to the trouble trying to find out what is wrong.

Does editing in the back-end cause the same issue (I would assume not if you're using the default Admin template, Isis.

Personally I would not waste my time trying to get Artisteer to work, I would choose a template from a reliable template maker and go with that. If you wish to pursue using Artisteer check their forums.
EDIT, I see A murray has answered first...

Just another thought, the error could be due to the PHP version - can you set PHP to 5.6 - do you get the same error with Artiseer template? That would give you the "what's wrong" clue - it probably wasn't designed to work with PHP 7.x

Another thought again, make sure the editor you're using is completely up to date.

Solved.
Not artisteers fault. It was actually THE LATEST NEWS MODULE.
Not related to template. Seemed logical, but prostar theme did not publish to possision "left".
Still, the module is faulty, but apparently there is an fix at github, somewhere.

While logged in frontend, I want to edit an article, I get an error page that gives this message:

Code: Select all

Call to undefined method JEventDispatcher::getContent()
This error is caused by Jevent and not by the Latest News Article so the Joomla module has nothing to do with the error shown and yes the referenced module is not working properly after J3.8.11 release but a patch is available on Github and we have patched the next release so it works again

This was my first comment ever. I am so sorry. Joomla was not to blame, artisteer was not blame. A third party plugin was to blame. Many of my sites broke at frontend after updating joomla, it made me think that it was realated to the update. Non-compatible thirdparty apps. If it`s possible to delete my comments, please do so.

I will not publish hasty conclusions in forums ever again.
