will not let me add articles

Could the error be trying to add (1, 'com_articles') ?

DB check did not show any errors

They cannot be added because they already exist in the database table.

why is the update trying to add something that already exists in DB?

You must have run an update that failed. The changes have been made, but the version is not updated.

Run Extensions->Installer->Database->Fix

The sql files is located in /administrator/components/com_admin/sql/updates/mysql
