Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
Hi All,
for the first time when I go to check for a Joomla Update, via
component > Joomla Update
I dont see any new versions available.
The current version is 3.9.13 and I believe the latest version is 3.9.15.
Not sure what's going on here
The current PHP version is 7.2.
Much appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
First thing, check the update channel is "Default" (that's what it is on my systems and they updated without issues).
Go to Joomla Update component, then go to "Options" (button, right hand side) and check there.
Return to Joomla update, it should then tell you an update is available - either in the main Global config area, or a message banner across the top of the screen.
Alternatively you could update manually through Joomla Update > Upload & Update (tab), and upload the relevant Update package from https://downloads.joomla.org/cms/joomla3/3-9-15. (Scroll down to the Update 3.9.x to 3.9.15 package and download to your desktop, then select it for the installation/update.

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
Hi all thank you for the help.
I tried manually updating the site but for some reason I was facing trouble again, then as I was doing that I thought hmm I should check one more thing. And voila there was a problem with the update sites, not the default settings as mentioned above, but the management of the update sites that can be found in:
Extensions > update sites
Someone had disabled the Joomla! Core listing.
Soon as I turned that on all started going well.
Hope this helps someone out there.

Funny post..... Your link shows a WP site so the question was not related to your own website...
Also it took ages to load that link shown in your footer so I had a look at your site at Google insight...Did you ever check your site? It seems not a good advert for your business if your score on that WP-site is "29". Joomla or not you should attend to that

Score's a whopping 30 here but there's a catch. That's the mobile view. Swapping to desktop scores an improved which is still only "moderate".leolam wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 8:56 amFunny post..... Your link shows a WP site so the question was not related to your own website...

*shameless self promo*, my personal site scores an 84 mobile and a perfect 100 on desktop ^^. GTMetrix gives it a A (100% PS) and 90% (Yslow) ^^. 0.9sec to load from the UK, pagesize of 732kb . Another one of mine scores 100/89.
But hey, everybody has to start somewhere

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
Hey, just chipping in.
I was going through the process of updating sites from 3.9.18-3.9.19 and found one site couldn't find the update.
Did a search found this thread - I went to take a look and I found my Joomla core update disabled as well.
Something weird going on here. I hadn't knowingly disabled mine. Wonder what it is that's causing it to become disabled.

Should "Joomla! Update Component Update Site" also be enabled? I had the exact problem on one of my sites, and I noticed this was also disabled.

I've just had this exact same thing. I didn't even know that setting was there and no-one else has admin rights, so something has changed this setting at some point.jfer3 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:53 amHi all thank you for the help.

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
A very interesting observation. I haven't tested things to see what happens if the update site is disabled for the Joomla! Core entry but it makes no sense why it would be disabled (unless someone deliberately was disabling these things). The following screenshot illustrates what we're discussing.
Will try to keep this in mind the next time someone posts a question with the subject "You already have the latest Joomla version, x.y.z" (whatever x.y.z may be). Thanks for the information.
There are two other plugins that come into play when searching for new J! updates. These are:
There is still another unanswered question about the disappearance of the purge cache feature that took place within the last couple of years. If people look at the documentation/guide to updating J! 3.x they will see, from the images in that guide, a button labelled "Purge Cache". At some time between when the documentation was written and now, this feature was removed. I was unable to find an explanation for removing this feature on GitHub (or on the issue tracker/release notes) but if someone could point me to it I would be very thankful.

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
That has nothing to do with the Joomla Update component from finding an update. The component finds update from the update Channel in its Options

I'm sorry, @Webdongle, but I don't understand your reply. What is the "that" that you refer to? To whom were you addressing your reply?
(I'm not suggesting that I disagree with you. I just don't understand what you're trying to say, that's all.)

Joomla core in in Extensions >>> Update Sites has no affect on whether or not the Joomla Update Component can find the update.

Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
@Webdongle: Thank you for clarifying your earlier comment.
The idea of some involvement between Extensions » Manage » Update Sites and Components » Joomla! Update doesn't fit my understanding of the J! world. It sounds like mythology to me. But, for all the world to see, there's either a basis of truth in this mythology or someone's lying.
Not only did one person report some mystical connection between Extensions » Manage » Update Sites and the Joomla! Update component in January this year, the claim was independently corroborated:It seems too much coincidence that, over a period of 7½ months, this belief in Extensions » Manage » Update Sites and the Joomla! Update component has not been challenged or debunked as mythology.
It doesn't make any sense to me. It's like thinking that one has to change the default template to Protostar before using the Joomla! Update component. It's sounds a bit tool far-fetched. But here we have it: the beginnings of a new religion; a new folklore; a new understanding about J!.
So, until this new mysticism is revealed as a sham, or the connection between Extensions » Manage » Update Sites and the Joomla! Update component is unmasked as a conspiracy theory, I'm inclined to sit this one out for the time being until I can establish the facts of the matter.
So, while I don't accept as immutable fact the say-so of four people who have a conviction about something, I can't accept the say-so of someone else who subscribes to different beliefs, either.
I have not created the conditions to test the theory, viz.
One of the most difficult-to-convince sceptics I have encountered is @Webdongle and, therefore, I won't argue with his belief in something even if there's [?anecdotal] evidence to the contrary.
When I write that @Webdongle is a difficult-to-convince sceptic, I mean this as a sign of respect. I am also sceptical about some things (e.g. voodoo, ghosts, [* spam *] "treatments", 5G telephones' effect on health, anti-vaxxers, "manually updating Joomla!", etc.) but some things can't be explained and that's why we have cults and followers.
I agree with you; it's seems counter-factual to accept the premise that something about Extensions » Manage » Update Sites could have any effect upon the Joomla! Update component finding new updates. I agree that the idea does not seem scientific. It's as "unscientific" (if you'll pardon my characterising it that way) or based in folklore or hearsay as to believe that one can update J! by simply overwriting the a website's existing filesystem use Extensions » Manage » Update to "install" or update J! as if it were some kind of "extension"!

Leaving out the questions I have about how someone was "trying" to "manually update" the website—I don't understand what "manually updating" means in the context of the Joomla! Update component—this is how the OP resolved the problem. The OP made this statement in January this year; the statement has not been scientifically disproven or successfully challenged.jfer3 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:53 amI tried manually updating the site but for some reason I was facing trouble again, then as I was doing that I thought ... Re: Joomla Update doesn't see latest versions
Although it may be too soon to open the champagne bottle at this time, I tested the theory that there was some interconnection between the J! update sites and the Joomla! Update component not "seeing" the latest version available.
My testing indicates a strong correlation between the findings reported by several people in this discussion that enabling the Joomla! Core entry in Extensions » Manage » Update Sites may allow the Joomla! Update component to find the latest update available for J! 3.x.
The details of the test are described at viewtopic.php?f=710&t=981975&p=3613992#p3613992.
As puzzling as it appears, I discovered that disabling the entry can have an effect. This, of course, may not be the only reason why people have failed to be able to successfully use the Joomla! Update component in the past but it's one possible factor that should be considered.
Again, I'm not saying anyone is right in making any claims about the update sites feature and the J! update component and I'm not saying that this is the only possibility. I am, however, saying that it's something that should be considered and it may help to eliminate it as a probable cause.
(Footnote: It doesn't make sense to me that there should be any interplay between updating J! core software and a facility that's involved in updating extensions but there you have it! Surprising, interesting, "illogical".)

I second this, something weird. I manage a stack of Joomla's and this has been an issue for a few months, updates sites are turned off, and not by me, and I'm the only admin.

Same problem here. Today i did an update 3.9.22 > 3.9.23. One of 15 sites did not see the update. After enabling Extensions > Update Sites > Joomla! Core, the update was available. very weird because i never disabled this option and noone else has access to these options.
