[SOLVED] template override stop working after 3.9.23->3.9.24 upgrade ?

Post by pavelriha » Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:22 am

not sure, but it looks that just after the small joomla update, my template override for the content category blog view stop working .. but only if the category is empty - no articles there, but there are subcategories

if there are articles, it still works
if there are only subcat, it falls back to the default template

anyone else? its bug or something else?

Welcome to the Joomla forum!

Which particular view file is included in the override? Please give the full path.

Try adding an unpublished article to the category and see if that changes the behaviour.

sorry, I was wrong.
was not override issue, it was other view issue .. and alltough the timing correspond with the joomla update I made, it's probably not related.
I found the default view for some categories was changed, but this would probably be some our user mistake :(

Updates can change default views or the models of the content component and that means that the behaviour of template overrides can also change and the overrides need to be refactored from time to time.

In Joomla 4, currently in Beta7 development stage, the Template Manager checks if the last update to an extension or Joomla has changed something so that the override file should be reviewed:
