Main Menu Still Appearing

Post by narain-mh » Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:56 am

Hello Everyone!
I am building a multilanguage Joomla site, and followed all the steps from the documentation https://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Setup_a_Mu ... al_Site/es
Everything went perfectly fine, the only problem I get is that even though I have unpublished the default mainmenu as per instructions form the document, the default Home tab still appears on the top menu. I am not sure if this has to do more with the template configuration and options, I am using JA Purity III. I would really appreciate if someone could help me in this, as I would like to remove the default Home set in All Languages that is required by Joomla. Thank you very much in advance.
PDS: I have attatched a screeshot to make it more clear, hopefully! :laugh:

Some templates uses other methods than modules to show the menus.

Yes, sure, sorry! http://consultahomeopatica.net. Yes Per Yngve, that's right I think it's a configuration of the Purity iii template, but not sure how to disable the default home setting.
Thank you guys! Hope you can help me with this.

Can you specify the Menu to use in the Styles parameters of the template?

Create a style for each language and assign.

What you are referring to is not from the main menu. It is a logo that points to the Home Page.

As I notice the logo text strings HOMEOPATÍA and HOMEOPATHY, I believe that you are using two different template styles, one for each language (ie Spanish and English).

You can have at least two approaches to handle this requirement.

(a) Hide the Logo

Create a new text file named custom.css, if not already created, in the directory \templates\purity_iii\css.

Have the following css entry in the file custom.css:

Code: Select all

@media screen and (min-width: 991px) {
  .logo {
    display: none;
  }
}
This way the logo will not be shown and your menu item Home only would be shown.

(b) Move the menu items Home to a new menu and do not publish that menu.

For example, the menu item Home for the Spanish language could be moved to a menu named Hidden Menu Spanish and the menu item Home for the English language could be moved to a menu named Hidden Menu English.

This way, either the logo text HOMEOPATÍA or HOMEOPATHY would be shown - NOT your menu item Home.

Note:
(i) If approach (a) is implemented then you may have to add additional css entries based on the screen size.
(ii) If apprach (b) is implemented then logo image (instead of text) could be implemented if desired.
