Site Language Override File Manual Updating

Hi,

Somehow my language override file /language/overrides/en-GB.override.ini was overwritten and a backup created in the same directory called en-GB.override.old.ini

I don't know why this happended but I have timestamp matched it with this request found in the raw access log file on the server:

There are > 100 overrides so to re-create them using Joomla Admin will take too long so I am trying to manually edit the file /language/overrides/en-GB.override.ini.

When I edit and save the file to the server using cPanel File Manager or FileZilla, a few seconds later the edited file is replaced with another version without my edits.

VM 3.2.14
Joomla 3.8.12
PHP 7.0.x

Any ideas please?

Thanks webdongle for the advice. Any insight into why this is happening?

Perhaps you started to edit the override and stopped part way through? No real idea why it got backed up and not rewritten. Have you tried recreating the override or renaming the file?
