J! 3.9.1: se-SV language pack (early release) causes RTL problems with templates; fixed with later release"

Post by Slackervaara » Tue Nov 27, 2018 7:40 pm

I just upgraded to Joomla 3.9.1 from 3.9.0. I have the Gantry Hydrogen template on my local server PHP 7.2.11. After the upgrade Hydrogen appearence changed. The right part with modules was now left and in addition the menu order changed from left to right to right to left. Like looking at the site in a mirror.
I checked other templates:
Protostar reversed
Beez3 reversed

Anyone else seen this?

One other report (albeit with a different template framework): see viewtopic.php?f=9&t=967564&p=3549502#p3549488

Is this reproducible with Protostar? (I would be surprised if it was/)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give this a try on with one of my stock-standard, vanilla-flavoured, test websites and we'll see what we see.

The worst Joomla bug ever! IMHO.

I can't reproduce the problem with a vanilla-flavoured J! 3.9 website, sorry.

Here's a screenshot of the website homepage before the update:

Here's the screenshot of the website homepage after the update:

Just now it came a new swedish language file for Joomla 3.9.1. After installing it all was normal again. If you got this problem change language to English and see if there is a difference.

Where did you install it from?

After the upgrade to 3.9.1 I installed the Swedish language file for 3.9.1 and after that I had problems, but a couple of hours later came a new Swedish language file for 3.9.1 and after installing it the site looked normal again. I never suspected the language file, but it must have been something wrong with it as they released a new version so rapidly.

I used the updater in Joomla. You get info about 3.9.1 and then you can install it. After that I found the Swedish language files for 3.9.1 in Updates and installed it. I did not download anything myself.

@Webdongle: It's a common problem (see release notes for the Swedish language packs hosted on joomlacode.org http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtrans ... e_id=21043). Brief survery of where language packs are sourced shows that the language teams are using joomlacode.org and not GitHub; somewhat surprising in itself.

I looked in Update places and found this:
Accredited Joomla! Translations
http://update.joomla.org/language/translationlist_3.xml
sv-SE_joomla_lang_full_3.9.1v2

It was sv-SE_joomla_lang_full_3.9.1v1 that contained the bug.

@Webdongle: four people (so far) have reported this. All of them experiencing the issue with the Swedish language pack. Sounds, to me, like it's a "common" problem among people who use the Swedish language pack ... given that it takes a while before people wake up (smell the roses) and realise the J! 3.9.1 is out there. Hmmm?
