canonical. Duplicate links

Post by DrShepard » Thu Apr 22, 2021 11:09 am

Hello!
Please tell me how to issue rel=canonical. A lot of links appeared on the site. After installing the module, there is a parent category

Code: Select all

https://solt74.ru/masla
and links are created with the addition of manufacturer. And they are obtained for one category, here is an example

Code: Select all

https://solt74.ru/manufacturer/euroboor/masla
,

Code: Select all

https://solt74.ru/manufacturer/ravenol/masla
and so it is for each manufacturer. Previously, there were not so many links in the Webmaster. And each page has the rel="canonical"attribute. How do we make sure that there is only one category page in the indexing:

Code: Select all

https://solt74.ru/masla?

Sometimes our website opens with different URLs, then a canonical issue arises. A canonical tag is the best way of telling search engines that a specific URL represents the master copy of a page to prevents duplicacy.

This is because sometimes the site opens with different URLs. So, it is better to use a canonical tag on your duplicate pages. It is a hint that the search engine strongly encourages.

It has been argued that canonical tags should be used on all pages to avoid any unintended search engine duplication issues, whether you duplicating your content, or not.

Hi
How do we make sure that there is only one category page in the indexing:
These pages are not the same, they do not constitue duplicate content. They each have a canonical to self, which is usually not needed because, again, they are not the same pages.

For instance:

https://solt74.ru/manufacturer/euroboor/ is a page to all products from manufacturer euroboor

https://solt74.ru/manufacturer/euroboor/masla is a page to all products from manufacturer euroboor of type "Масла"

So in essence these are subresults. Personally, I would no index all these pages, the /xxx/masla ones, as they are just refined search of the manufacturer pages.
It has been argued that canonical tags should be used on all pages to avoid any unintended search engine duplication issues, whether you duplicating your content, or not
Yes, but only if the correct canonical are in use. And that's usually really hard to do.
To fix duplicate link errors, you can use the plugin Canonical Links
An example of what I was saying, where this kind of plugin insert incorrect canonicals in mosts cases, as they just create a self-canonical.
