Multiple H1 for a blog site

Post by Buscusdude » Thu Dec 02, 2021 9:37 am

My theme is Yoo_monday. I have a Category and a Menu: Blog. In it, I have:

Code: Select all

<h1>Blog</h1>
Then, I have a buncha articles for that Category with many pages. They end with the link: /blog?start=5, and the number at the end increases by 5 each page.

In my SEO tool, all the pages blog?start=[n+5] (Pagination) come up as H1 Duplicates, because when I go to each page, I have the <h1>Blog</h1>, so this counts as an H1. I have set up Canonical links for
/blog
for both the Category and Menu (I use the Custom Canonical Links plugin). I looked online for this issue, but wasn't really able to find a more modern way of dealing with this, only some from 2011, and I hope to god that there's a more "modern" way than the way. Do, I have to override my template and basically do this: https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/qu ... word-pages My pagination already has
the rel="next" & rel="prev"
attribute

How can I do this?

Hi. Take a look at the date of publication of this post. Google has long stopped supporting this markup.

Now all your pages in pagination must be canonical by themselves.
This is all that required.
I have set up Canonical links for

/blog
It is not right.

So, how can I make the pages in the pagination canonical? That was my main question, I am not sure how to do it. Like I said, the only resources I have are old posts...

Just get the "Canonical Links All in One" plugin and that fixes everything and more. Joomla should've had this feature as a basic one, not force me to get a plugin. Shame

Hi Pavel-ww, follow up question regarding your response below. All my paginated Blog pages have a customised canonical tag like this:
<link href="https://www.document-genetics.co.uk/res ... with-abbyy" rel="canonical" />
But I also get this additional canonical on all paginated blog pages:
<link href="https://www.document-genetics.co.uk/" rel="canonical" />

Do you know anyway for preventing this additional canonical?

Many thanks
Steve

So, how can I make the pagination's pages canonical? That was my primary concern, and I'm not sure how to proceed. As I previously stated, the only materials available to me are past blogs.
I enabled "System - Custom Canonical" plugin which worked for me.

H1 labels are inseparable from seo Tragically, even Google appears to be conflicting with how significant H1 labels are for rankings. Different designers have expressed various things.
