errors on only some pages when trying to remove index.php

I'm trying to remove the index.php from the url. I've made the instructed changes and for half of my site, it's working just fine. I have 5 tabs across the top of my site (http://www.cinergyworks.com/)...when I click on any of the first 3 and subpage, it works just fine, but when I click on either of the last two tabs (Our Clients and Contact Us) it will work the first time after clearing my cache, but any additional times I get an error message: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

I can't figure out why it seems to work fine on most pages and it will work properly once after clearing the cache, but then I get the error message on 2 tabs.

Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Since the site it live, I've turned it back to include the index.php so the site works properly. I'd still love some help with how to make it work properly without the index.php on all the pages.

Hey bethany,

Don't know which joomla version you are using, try the below link hopefully it will resolve your issue,
http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/ ... -index-php

Thanks, that's exactly what I've tried and it worked on most of the pages, but for some reason I was getting a timeout error on 3 of the pages still. That's where I'm confused because it works rest on most of the pages but just a few wont load. Any thoughts why just a few would have a loading error? It seemed to the be "our clients", "contact us", and the "events" subpage where the errors occurred. As I've mentioned about I switched the site back since its live and I wanted all the pages to work properly.

Thanks for any help!

Most probably it is due html overrides. Go to your template and (warning: first backup) delete/rename/move folder html to see will it work after it.

Leftfield - thanks for the suggestion. I tried deleting the html folder and it wasn't the fix either. Other than loosing some template formatting (which I could deal with if it fixed the index.php problem), it did allow me to click through all the pages a few times and they worked, but then the same time out error started occurring.

I have the URL rewriting turned on right now if you don't mind taking a look at it while the problem is live. Maybe that way it will be easier to figure out what's going on. I'm going to look at pishro's suggestion now.

thanks to everyone for the help...this is my first joomla site and I'm learning as I go.

Your site is working normally for me.

But, I noticed (in newsflash module) under "production" "events" "entertainment" and "sponsorship" are URLs with index.php in it. Try to edit that module and fix those URLs in the backend or you must edit that module in the code. Override or most probably core hack.

Hmm, before anything, try to clean cache in Joomla and browser

success! The link Pishro sent (http://docs.joomla.org/Enabling_Search_ ... _on_Apache) had a suggestion to Uncomment RewriteBase / which I did and it is not working without a hitch (hopefully this continues, but I've clicked around quite a bit).

Leftfield - thanks for your help as well. Good catch on the newsflash module urls - I will change those right away.

Many thanks to both of you - I'd spent so long trying to figure this out...it seems silly it was just removing one #. Like I said, I'm learning as I go and I really appreciate people like you guys who offered your expertise!
