Hi Mate,

Technically to have WWW or not to have non-WWW is as below

Theoretically have WWW is acting as a sub domain or a hostname, and it helps with flexibility with DNS. Also help to restrict cookies when using multiple sub domains under same domain. Other than above technically if you are small business, naked domains (none-WWW) do not have a special benefit.

But some may say big website supposed to be beneficial to have WWW simply because of above factors.

SEO Benefits
Your preference of having WWW or No-WWW prefix No value in regards to SEO at all.

See below link see what big boss Google says...

Whatever you are using WWW or Non-WWW, it will not matter in SEO prospective. There is technical difference between these two but I don't think Google or other search engine will have issue with it. I would like to give you one reference article (http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-gui ... press-seo/) which will give you brief idea on this topic.

Sorry but you think wrong

If you don't specify a preferred domain, we may treat the www and non-www versions of the domain as separate references to separate pages

I agree with you. In my tests the both websites had the same results in SEO. I tested one with www and another without.

You just need to make sure the redirect is correct so you do not have duplicate page issues. :)

If you set up a google webmasters account for www.yoursite.com but do not set the www.preference then 'Links to your site' will only display links that include the the www because it will regard yoursite.com as a different site. Even if you have a non www to www redirect in your .htaccess it will make no difference to google ... because it will see a link (in another site) to yoursite.com as a different site to www.yoursite.com. Thus the records in google will be inaccurate.

The same applies to other records in google they will be inaccurate because it sees yoursite.com and www.yoursite.com as different sites. It makes no difference which you choose (www or non www) but you must specify your choice in google webmaster tools for accurate results.

From my experience, none-www or www is nothing in SEO and there is no advantage. You can use which you prefer.

I've been using both for some sites and there's no different at all.

Try looking this as user expirience. Is with www looks better? Is to long with www? Users are used to www in most cases. For SEO there's no difference. Just make sure to have redirect www-non-www or viceversa.

From my experience, none-www looks better. Someone type none-www in address bar

A quick answer to your question, is when you visit google.com (or google.ca, or any google in any country), for example, what do you see? Do they use www? I think the best thing to do is to do what google.com is doing.

I personally think without www is better. However in terms of SEO it probably doesn't matter. It just looks shorter on search engines.

Hi jamierrmax,
a user when on a website rarely type www, non-www brief, easy to remember your brand, Google will show more fully and to consider other aspects ( the domain structure, objectivity, SEO ), the non-www better still.
I'm proud of Joomla! is a open source software created and maintained by an amazing community.

The more people - the more opinions there are.
We were discussing a lot about it a while ago but finally use the option without www. The more important issue right now is to buy ssl certificate and use https.

Every webpage redirect to with www redirection. Without www redirection some issue is occurred, i.e, called canonical issue.
Individual webpage can be loaded from multiple URL's. Multiple pages have same content but different URL's. At that time google confused which is the genuine url, that's the reason resolve canonical issue.

I am not sure if this what you describe is the issue at hand. Nothing happens negatively when using non-www. Webmaster Tools allows you to set preferences but Google will index with or without

Default for webmaster tools is to treat www as different site to www ... you need to set that

Although many wеbѕіtеѕ like “www.”, І don’t recommend уоu to add “ www ”. Үоu save up tо 4 characters іn your site’s url, making your ѕіtе show more kеуwоrԁѕ in url wһеn appearing in ѕеаrсһ results. This іѕ good for SEO ?
Іn addition, visitors uѕuаllу type root ԁоmаіn in their brоwѕеrѕ. Non “www.” wіll reduce your раgе load time.

I've thought about this too but came to the realization they use it because when they started everyone did. Every site used www back in the stone ages. Just my thought about it but on some levels it makes sense.
