HTTPS redirection

I have recently set up one of my sites with an SSL certificate. I use a plugin (system_sss_redirect) to force https on my site, and in my browser http URLs redirect correctly to https now. The plugin does not modify my .htaccess though.
After the change, I noticed a drop in the SERPS and declining visitor numbers. Is it possible that older links I built for the http version do not pass link juice any longer? Do I have to add a redirect directive to my .htaccess as well for Google to "see" the old links?

You dont need a plugin or to change the .htaccess ... just 'Force https' in Global config. Changing to https should not affect serps.

Good to know, I never saw that function. So that plugin is redundant now.
The question remains whether Google will actually recognize the value of older links built towards URLs with http?

it depends, i waited from 1 week to 3 month for google totally recognize the 301 page in search result of my website.

That is because you did not request Google to re-index your site

I added the https version to Google Analytics and resubmitted my sitemaps from the https version. That should be enough, right?
