Validate Meta Description/Keywords Usage

I'd like to validate the behavior of the various meta description and keyword opportunities.

Global Configuration - entries here will be used if there are not entries anywhere else.

Menu Items - entries here will be used in place of those at in the Global Configuration.

Articles - entries in the publishing area appear to be ignored. I see the Global Configuration entries being used.

Do I have this right? Or am I missing something about entering meta description and keywords for an article?

Global settings will be used if no Menu Item settings or Article settings are configured.
Menu Item settings will be used if no Article settings are configured.
Article settings are used on a page when they are configured (when the com_content, article view = active)

However, it depends on the template! And on non-core Plugins that you are using.
Those can override the default settings.

If you run into weird issues, check the site with Joomla's default template Protostar.
If that works ok, then your template might override the meta settings.

Set the page display if you are using a menu item, use emta description and meta keywords in the menu item and robots index follow.

I also have a difficult time finding out what these priorities are. I can't circumvent the setting for a single article menu entry with specific settings for that article. Am I okay? Could anyone here explain the logic?
