no follow links

Post by mountainsman » Sat Aug 07, 2021 5:10 am

I've just done a sem rush site audit & its telling me to fix my no follow attributes as some of my internal links are designated that way taking away any link benefit.

I looked at the code on one page:

https://adifferentdrummer.com.au/what-i ... ounselling

there is nothing in it to specify no follow attribution.

<p><a class="readon" href="break-your-shell/holistic-counselling" target="_blank" rel="alternate noopener noreferrer">Learn more about my approach as a holistic counsellor.</a></p>

I'm guessing that perhaps the use of <a> <a/> makes a link no follow, is that right?

the blue box at the bottom of my page is part of the rockettheme template I use. I'm wondering if that is the cause ie the <a>

thanks

The template uses several no follow attributes in the footer for powered by, top nav, socials and such.

The use of the no follow attributes makes a link no follow. The attribute is placed within the <a> tag.

View and search your source for the term 'follow' and you'll see them and how they are used.

Also depends on the editor used. TinyMCE adds nofollow whenever you use _blank attribute.

And converts all links that have a _blank. E.g. if you have created the link before with JCE editor and then use the TinyMCE editor.

Also internal links which is near to stupid.

I don't know if there is a configuration option. I rarely use the TinyMCE.

I think it could be due to the editor you are using.
you can use JCE editor, i'm using it.
