Mobile emulators for testing?

Post by stuffdone » Thu Mar 14, 2019 5:45 pm

Good day all.

I am going nuts trying to get a site mobile friendly. To be clear from the standpoint of actual use it passes the tests okay.

The problem has to do with the header graphic. I have sort of solved it but in running site in emulators at one time it all works great then I try later and it won't fit again. I can get it to appear on some emulators as intended even when switching devices but then I view on my own Android phone it is different than on the various emulators?

I am looking for a reliable means to test this for various devices but it seems these online emulators change their minds each time I load the site! :-\

Here are two I have tried:

https://www.brickandmobile.com/mobile-emulator/
http://mobiletest.me/
https://mobilephoneemulator.com/ ( this one just gives me a 404 error ! )

The page I am testing is http://corkybellsseafood.com/ specifically the fit of the header graphic and the events calendar. ( note still messing with calendars trying a few different extensions so this could change )

I only have one phone to see this on directly so cannot tell what's actually appearing on various devices absent a reliable emulator.

Any ideas welcome.

Chrome has a Small simulator that is reliable when you deploy the console (F12) there is a button with phone and tablet. It sets the screen simulating such devices and variants.

In Firefox adding web developer toolbar you can have the option in the view tab "View responsive layouts" and you see all variants at once.

There are few things that these solutions can't do but you can work with that and if a specific device is needed to test you take notes and try to get a similar device to check the specific issue.
