Browser page title

Post by JosefK » Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:53 am

I set "Browser page title" in Global configuration -> Menus->Browser Page Title, this show in Menus->Item->Page display -> "Browser page title" like "Use global (...title from global configuration ...)". But in browser page title stil show only Menu title.
How right set "Browser page title" in global configuration for Joomla 3.x ?
Probable in Joomla 4 is it same.
Thanks Josef

Welcome to the Joomla! Forum!!

If you type any text in the option "Browser Page Title" then that would be shown instead of the menu item title.

The option "Show Page Heading" that you are referring to has nothing to do with Browser's Page Title. As the name specifies, it is the Heading of the Page - Not Brower's tab.

Problem is not "Show Page Heading" I know how it works. Problem is set "Browser Page Title" in global configuration (Menus).

Thanks for the clarification. I have tested this and I did notice the issue. The following screenshots would illustrate the issue.

(a) Browser Page Title set at the screen "Menus: Options" (Supposedly Global level)
Browser_Page_Title_Option_at_Menu_or_Global_Level.jpg

(b) Browser Page Title set at the screen "Menus: Edit Item" (At menu item level)
Browser_Page_Title_Option_at_Menu_Item.jpg

In the above example, in screenshot (b) one can notice the text "Use Global (Sample Text)" in the input box of the option "Browser Page Title".

If the menu item is saved as such, it is expected that the text "Sample Text" is shown in the Browser's tab. However, this does not happen. The system behaves just like no text was entered in the option "Browser Page Title". This is an issue.

On the other hand, it is not clear why such an option exits. Using such option would show the same text in all the browser tabs no matter what page is displayed.

If your are particular in implementing this option correctly, you could report this issue at https://issues.joomla.org/.
