Problem With Template Style

Post by TerryFord » Mon Jul 10, 2023 12:27 pm

Hello All,

Firstly, I am not experienced with Joomla, and so apologies if I am misusing any terminology.

I am using a template "JSN Decor 2" on Joomla 3. It was working fine, but now when I try to edit the style Extensions / Templates / Style on the Templates: Styles (Site) screen and then select JSN Decor 2 - Default Theme, a new page opens with a spinning icon, but the layout does not appear.

I cannot see what I am doing differently to when I previously could access the style editor. It would always open a new page, and then the framework would appear. Every other part of the website seems to be working just as before. Please, can anyone suggest what is happening?

Thank you in advance,

Terry

Hi gws,

Thank you for the suggestion. The template works on the website - all the layouts are correct and everything displays as expected - just I cannot edit the style like I used to be able to.

How could I test for php incompatibility ?

Go to the system menu in the back end and choose system information, that will show what php version the site is using and then check out the template dev's site to see what the php requirements are for your template, if there is a template update then update it.

Ok, it seems the template provider has closed down, and their website certificate has lapsed! I seem to recall that when editing the template it would check for any updates. I assume it is not getting a reply, and so will not proceed.

Are you aware of any way to force a template to *not* check for any updates? I will obviously have to change templates, but that will take a while, and I could do with making a quick alteration to the layout now, rather than much later.

Thank you, T.

php 7.4.33. That should be Ok for J3. Sorry do not know anything about your template. J3 is end of life in a couple of Months, might be worth updating to J4 now,you will have to do it at sometime anyhow.

Yes, was just hoping to get a quick alteration in before going through the lengthy process of upgrading.

Thank you for your help anyway!

It might be worth going to mysite.guru run by Phil Taylor (true expert), the first audit is free and just might point you to your problem. Either way you will get good info.
