Search module working from home page only [solved]

Post by Azmandius » Tue Feb 27, 2018 11:33 am

To start with, i have contacted template provider in the first place about this bug, it's a paid template, and fixing this bug is supposed to be a part of their regular client support routine, but, since my subscription has recently expired they are now forcing me to renew my subscription, just in order to have them fix their bug, so i have 3 choices, 1. renew subscription for their bug fixing (which is unfair), 2. proceed into legal litigation with them 3. look for support here on Joomla forum, so i thought to give it a try here :)

The issue is simple, the search module is working only on home page only, ex. http://goodcharacter.esy.es
Trying to execute a search via the same search module, from any other page gives a "Call to a member function get() on null" error, ex. http://goodcharacter.esy.es/component/s ... Itemid=981

Template: JSN Shine, demo: http://demo.joomlashine.com/joomla-temp ... /index.php
Joomla! 3.7.1
PHP 7.0.26

I'd be happy if I'd be lucky enough to have somebody more experienced than me take a look at this issue :)

Big thanks!

I did a search in Google of "Call to a member function get() on null".
Heaps of things to look at there but working one page and not the other?

usually the idea is not to use front page layout for search by specifying special menu item, which ensures that the search page always looks the same. In Joomla this can be done by creating menu item in a hidden menu for the search.

And that would mean that on all other pages a search menu item that the search relies on - is gone, and thus it is giving a "The page you are looking for was moved, removed, renamed or might never existed." error?
