SuperUser name and password got changed!!!

Post by FuzMic » Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:00 am

Hi peers

Recently i try to login to a Joomla backend v3.8.# and found my SuperUser name and password fail to login.

I went into the CPanel & have a look a the mysql table for "User" and found S'User name changed i don't know how and why.

I changed backed to the original S'User and its encryted password, then i can login to the Joomla BackEnd.

Any advice on how to prevent such intrusion. I just installed the securityCheck extension to hope for the best. :geek:

This means that Joomla had been out of date for 8 months, during which time a number of security updates were released.

Also, for future reference, the procedures here will assist in resetting your super admin password.
https://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_reco ... assword%3F

It will also be worthwhile signing up to the Myjoomla.com service, which audits your site for security issues, and might find why and how your password was reset. The first site audit is free, but ongoing service is by subscription.
