Add a video or audio link to a article text

Post by FuzMic » Sun May 16, 2021 5:53 am

Hi folks

How to use JCE Editor to add a video or audio control in an article. There is no such buttons in the layout to do this. Do i have to install jcemedia box?

Apparently to add a media we have to have a paid subscription to use this JCE feature, true or not?

You could use the free plugin "AllVideos" https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/allvideos/

Thanks illovo for the suggestion.

I found an easy work round by making use of Editor TinyMCE to Insert a Media, then copy the created code to article text.

PS: some tips for sharing

You may find that audio file eg .mp3 does not play. It is probably due to the media file not uploaded.

You can check this by looking at the uploaded media files from menu option "Content > Media". If you cannot find the specific audio file in the "Media Folders" even though it is already in these folders according to the file system, you have to upload it within this Media Manager using the "Upload" button.

If after choosing the media, you try to upload but flag error eg wrong mime type then you have to look within "Options" and check the two fields relating this problem. Following are examples of what you can fill in the fields.

Legal extensions
avi,mp4,mp3,bmp,csv,doc,gif,ico,jpg,jpeg,odg,odp,ods,odt,pdf,png,ppt,swf,txt,xcf,xls,BMP,CSV,DOC,GIF,ICO,JPG,JPEG,ODG,ODP,ODS,ODT,PDF,PNG,PPT,SWF,TXT,XCF,XLS

Legal MIME Types
image/jpeg,image/gif,image/png,image/bmp,application/x-shockwave-flash,application/msword,application/excel,application/pdf,application/powerpoint,text/plain,application/x-zip,video/avi,audio/mpeg

Just a short note & question on Media Manager

The absence of a media file in Media folders, which is already in the file system, happens to only localhost using XAMPP. Using WAampServer for localhost, there is no need to use the Media Manager as the media file once in the file system will also be found in Joomla Media folder. Anybody know why?
