J2 store Product Downloads stop at 63Mb Topic is solved

I`m running Joomla 3 and J2 store, I`m selling digital downloadable products (video`s). Video`s are MP4 and are large 1.5 Gbs a couple are around 500 Mb`s.

My problem is after completing purchase and clicking the download link the file downloads stop at 63mb`s ??
Same thing occurs with a zipped file or plane MP4.

Please note I`m a newbee built my site from scratch

I don't know why *any* download would stop at precisely 63MB but I'm thinking it's more a server problem than Joomla itself. Are you using Shared, VPS or Dedicated Hosting?

Are download files exceeding web-host resource limits, i.e. web traffic allowance such as downloading files could be reaching its limits?

Can you successfully download a file yourself, through a standard FTP program, or through, for example, your web-host's file manager? Does it also fail outside the mechanism of first paying for the download?

Can you try another way e.g. using something like DropBox or similar file repository, and try to download the file that way through your browser? (just suggesting testing other ways to download the file, to rule out that it's your web host or joomla).

Which version of Joomla 3 (3.10.11 is the latest). What release of J2 Store? J2store hasn't had an update in 2 years (according to JED listing).

Hi I`m using Shared hosting with Hostinger, I checked with them last night and they assured me the server is working Ok. Files are all working fine via FTP . Yes I`m using Joomla 3.10.11 and J2 Store v 3.3.20.

This is what Hostinger said:I have checked the file from the hosting, and there seem no issues with the file and the server as I manage to download the file normally from the file manager: So most likely there is some limitation from the Joomla configuration, so I would recommend you to check for any kind of limitation from Joomla. Furthermore, you can also try to increase the PHP limit...In case it doesn’t help you can also submit a request in Stackoverflow.com

I`ll sort an FPA result and post, are you able to help me check php limits etc as above ?

There are limits to the size of uploads in PHP, but, AFAIK, PHP does not limit downloads. The memory limit is more than enough and the execution time is generous.

Change the type of MySQL type to 'mysqli', which should fix the correction error in the FPA results.

Forget about asking StackOverflow - I'd challenge your host to look closer into their logs! If you do not have access to the PHP error log in the cPanel or similar, ask to get a copy.

Have you managed to restore the database connection by using 'MySQLi' as Database Type? If the back end is not accessible, edit the file configuration.php:

Where are those two identical screenshots from? Aren't the downloadable videos stored in the filesystem, not the database?

Are you using the free Core version or the paid Pro version of J2Store?

How do you link to the downloads in the product article - is it just a link to file in the nominated J2Store folder or do you use the tags for the plugin Content - J2Store?

Does this behaviour with files over 63MB occur only for you or do your clients complain about it, too? Have you tried to download from a different workstation in your LAN or through a mobile data connection?

When a download link is clicked in a Joomla article, Joomla does not limit the size of the download file or the time it takes to download that file. Any such restrictions are likely to come either from your host or your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and their ingress/egress filters and firewalls.

J2store has a download product pathway that points to files in a folder, I`ve chosen "Download" off the root folder.
I have no clients buying products still at testing test stage thank goodness.
Used my cell connection last night and still get the download stopping at around 63Mbs.

According to the FPA results, the PHP error log is at /home/u819440592/.logs/error_log_surfvisionvideo_com. Can you access that file? If not, contact your host and ask for a copy. The log file may contain error messages why the download stops.

I went back to Hostinger long story short they said I can`t store my large video files on their servers ?? So now looking for a suitable host service

Did the host say if they are worried about the disk space or the download traffic? Have you looked into storing the large files in one of the cloud services instead?

I think traffic is more the issue BUT I may have 20 plus GB`s of video`s each about 1.4 Gb`g but my traffic will not be very high, so maybe sell 1 or 2 a month ?? But they don`t get that, I`m looking at the Amazon S3 bucket app for J2store and host my files with Amazon
