Forum and Calendar extensions?

Post by goodol312 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 11:35 pm

Hello all.

Wow, I haven't been on here since 2008. Well, it is that time again. I am developing a new website for my BSA troop because I am fedup with the lackluster performance of our online management software, ScoutManage. I downloaded and installed the newest version of Joomla as was recommended on the front page for a new website. I have got it looking just about the way I want it to look, but now I need to start building on my extensions. I need a forum that will operate seamlessly with my Joomla site as users will need to be logged into the main site as well to view certain areas.

In addition, I am looking for a Calendar extension. Specifically I would like one that would automatically generate emails to users of the site to remind of an upcoming event.

Anyone have any suggestions? Number one top priority here is security, to preserve the privacy and safety of my troop's scouts.

Yes, I have 3.0. That was why I was asking for ideas on extensions. I didn't think Kenuna would work with 3.0, which is why I posted here, but since raazlancer suggested it for 3.0, I thought I'd give it a shot. It would explain the error, though.

JEvents seems like a nice item but it looks like for automatically generated event reminders it requires you to be a membership at the gold level of membership... which seems like a lot of money to pay just for the ability to remind users of an upcoming event.

Sorry, I wrote a reply with 2 other forum extension that is compatible with Joomla 3.0 But it seems moderator removed that.
Kunena is not compatible with joomla 3.0 yet. You should search Joomla Extension Directory , There is 2 forum extension that works with 3.0 , check that by yourself.
Again sorry for this confusion.

I tried installing ChronoForums and it isn't working, and I am having trouble figuring out why. It appears to have installed properly but when I go into manage the module, it doesn't let me click on any of the buttons.
