Apple News API Plugin for Joomla

Post by ImperialHawk » Tue May 16, 2017 9:00 pm

Hello Joomla Support Forum.

I have recently been approved to publish our news articles onto Apple News using the Apple News Format. I can see that there are some plugins for Wordpress and Drupal that are able to automatically take articles from a category and upload them into Apple News. https://newsresources.apple.com/en/faq/66346243

I have not been able to find a similar plugin for Joomla. Does Joomla already have this feature (that uses the Apple API https://developer.apple.com/library/con ... index.html)

Or maybe there is a plugin that I don't know about?

Thank you,

Hi,

As I know, you could use RSS feeds for publishing your articles onto Apple News channel. Please refer https://newsresources.apple.com/en/faq/RSS_Overview

About RSS feeds, you could use core feeds of Joomla site. Or you could also use obRSS to create feeds flexibly.

Best Refards!

Hello!

Thank you for the reply. We've aready selected Apple News Format and it looks like the RSS option is no longer available once we went this route. Do you know of how Joomla can work with the Apple News Format?

Thank you,

Any progress on this? I've been using the RSS feed from Joomla into Apple News for some time, but want to take advantage of the more extensive features allowed by the formal integration.

Seems every CMS except Joomla is represented on this list from Apple?

Hi Supergrug,

No progress has been made yet.

How is it using the RSS feed type? Do you like it? Can you post a screenshot of how the article looks on your joomla website and how it looks on the Apple News feed?

Give this RSS Help Document a try.https://docs.joomla.org/Help38:Extensio ... tion_Feeds - If this does not work, please create a new post as this post is about the Apple news API.
