How to completely remove extension with all of the dependencies

Post by rimvydukas » Wed Aug 08, 2018 6:17 pm

Hi,
We all know if we install heavy extension it may install additional things. I wonder, what is the best way to find out what I must remove in addition to my installed extension. I want to do clean uninstall and I don't want to leave any unneeded garbage. Thanks.

Look at the installation package and compare with the database and file system.

Not that I know of. The only way I know of is to examine the install package and manually check the files and daabase to see if remnants exist.

@rimvydukas sometimes an extension has a badly coded uninstaller script. That means you do not see visibly the extension in a list but the files and folders are still present so is the database entry.

The best way to find out if all is installed perfectly is to go to the file system in your folder tree (cpanel or ftp) and check after uninstall if files/folders are still present. DO the same in phpMyAdmin for the respective table entries

Examining the install package (for the extension) will give you clues where to look.
